WANNA BET BILL MADE THE TAPE AND CARVILLE LEAKED IT?:

This Time It’s Clinton Caught on Tape (T.W. Farnam, 4/18/08, Wall Street Journal: Washington Wire)

Now it’s Sen. Hillary Clinton’s turn to explain remarks at a private fund-raiser.

On a tape released by the Huffington Post, Clinton bashes MoveOn.org and the Democratic Party’s “activist base” for “intimidating” her supporters.

“We have been less successful in caucusing because it brings out the activist base of the party,” Clinton says on the muffled audio recording. “You know, MoveOn.org didn’t want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that’s what we’re dealing with, and they turnout in great numbers and, um, they are very driven in their view of our positions. And it’s primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don’t agree with them. They know I don’t agree with them. Though they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me.”

Attacking the Left is how you win states like PA and IN.

That rule doesn't really apply in a Democratic primary.

Hillary should win PA by 15 points, but Obama may get enough votes in Philadelphia to keep her margin in single digits. If she does win by 12, 15, or 18 points, there will be a collective stroke in the DNC. And two weeks later, Obama will probably win NC by 4-8 points. Hillary has no traction there, and only a giant new Obama blunder will give Hillary a win there.

Howard Dean will be screaming every day for the next 5 months, and beyond. He can't do anything except spout fantasies and lies about McCain, which will be found out. If anything, this campaign is proving that any falsehood, any fabrication, any embellishment is likely to come back and bite hard. Over the past 8 years, such foolishness has been almost exclusively from the Democrats (and the media).

But if Hillary wants to do a reverse AlGore and turn on the professional Left, it will be a sight to see. She can be Richard Daley all over again. But MoveON will call her Bull Conner in drag.

It's how Bill won.

No, Bill won because his only competition was Paul Tsongas, who sounded like Porky the Pig.

We should prefer either for Effendi Obama to be the nominee, or for it be so close that his were the Democrat party to wake up to reality, his followers might go more berserk than is usual for them.

Admittedly it is a close call. The great danger is that our side would pull its punches in the fall: you know, the "Johnson's walking dog" syndrome. Based on how the MSM are acting even now, I am not too worried.
