WHICH IS WHY THE OTHERS DESPISE HIM:

A Mormon 'Terminator' (Jim Shea, 1/26/08, The Hartford Courant)

Mitt Romney is kind of like those cyborgs from the Terminator movies who can alter their appearance at will.

Seriously, if it were suddenly revealed that Romney is actually a "terminator" from the future sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor so her son would not be born, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. [...]

Romney, of course, isn't the only candidate who will do or say anything to win the nomination, but he is the most accomplished.

Except that Arnold's has a wider emotional range.

Why is this hard to figure out? Having a president from the Peoples' Republic of Massachusetts is the equivalent of having a president from South Carolina in 1860.

What kind of man could have been be chosen then as a governor from the Palmetto Republic? Is there any way that such a person could have been sold to the rest of the country? We would have seen a flip-flopper on things like slavery, tariffs, nullification--you name it.

A large part of me wants to dislike Romney; but, hearing him speak alongside the rest of the candidates, I can't help but be impressed by the way he expresses himself. Except perhaps in the recent incident where Romney, posing with about a dozen black folks from Michigan, asks the rhetorical question "Hey, who let the dogs out?"
I don't think McCain can lie with a straight face well enough to get elected. And Huckabee's personality annoys a large segment of our population.
