It is now obvious that even OJ has become bored with his whole YOU PEOPLE WHO WORRY ABOUT IMMIGRATION ARE THE WORST PEOPLE ON EARTH EVER!!!!!! schtick.

We need to worry about immigration from a political point of view.

Let me explain why this issue is so toxic. The percentage of the population who are opposed to amnesty and/or open borders is quite high--possible as high as 80%. The parties, both of them, are seriously out of step with the mass of the electorate.

Two really bad things grow out of this. The first is the threat of a strong third party run at the Presidency. The other threat is that of the parties themselves polarizing and radicalizing issues other than immigration in a bidding war to get voters to stay on board in spite of the parties' unpopular position on the wetback question.

I'm sure that if we searched out minds we could recall predictions of what a Hindenburg-like disaster this was going to turn out to be.

Quite wrong. Large majorities oppose their illegality but are fine with amnesty for just that reason.

They're not in favor of another amnesty that means another 15-20 million illegals after it passes, no.

Lou is correct, and if someone runs on an anti-illegal ticket it'll be 1992 all over again, and we'll have President Hillary with 43% of the vote. This is just one of the reasons why the George Bush/OJ pro-illegal "conservatism" is a disaster.

Secure the border, start kicking out large numbers of illegals who are gangsters, drug dealers, drunk drivers, on welfare, etc., deny federal funds to "sanctuary cities," and then most people will be willing to talk about amnesty for the remaining hard-working, law-abiding (except for immigration law) ones who are left.

Right. They're in favor of making the next 100 million legal, instead of illegal until the next amnesty.
