IT'S THEIR NATION, LET THEM DECIDE:

Musharraf suggests Pakistan willing to give up Kashmir claim (The Associated Press, December 5, 2006)

Pakistan is willing to give up its claim to all of Kashmir if India agrees that the disputed Himalayan region should become self-governing and largely autonomous, Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf said Tuesday, according to an Indian television report.

Why should Kashmir be any different than Palestine, South Lebanon, Chechnya, etc....

You mean, why shouldn't it be controlled by terrorist militias funded by large external Muslim states?

Or, a largely autonomous region within India as Chechnya was within Russia, and South Lebanon now is within Lebanon, and Palestine has been within Israel?

Or, independent?

They're all going to be independent, we're just in the midst of determining how many of the occupiers have to die before they fold.

I thought that most Kashmiris wanted to be part of Pakistan, not an independent country.

No, they particularly don't want to be part of Pakistan.

Or Hawaii or South California

How do you know what Kashmiris want?

That's why Pakistan was always afraid to let them decide. Polls have consistently shown they won't choose to be part of Pakistan.

OJ, have you read any of Michael Totten's writings on Lebanon?
