VARIATIONS ON A THEME OF SELF-DEGRADATION (via John Resnick):
Smokers may have higher risk of HIV (Reuters, 9/21/06)
Smoking, already linked to several illnesses, may also increase the risk of infection with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, researchers said on Thursday.
If they cared about themselves they wouldn't engage in high-risk pathologies.

Doesn't matter if they do or don't, the CDC??? is pushing for AIDS testing even if you're not part of the high-risk group.
Posted by: Sandy P at September 21, 2006 9:29 PMThe only reason people aren't routinely tested is because of the gay lobby.
Posted by: oj at September 21, 2006 9:37 PMThe only reason it's called an epidemic and not treated like one is the gay lobby.

Posted by: ed at September 22, 2006 9:46 AMBack to the 80s, I had to have 1 before marriage.
This is stupid, just another unfunded mandate to make health care costs go higher.
Did the CDC do a cost-benefit analysis????
Posted by: Sandy P at September 22, 2006 10:08 AMWhat value do you place on human life?
Posted by: oj at September 22, 2006 10:18 AMThere are lots of cigarette smokers working and patronizing topless clubs (this from an, ahem, unsceintific survey in past years). So it may just be that young people who smoke are less aware/concerned about high-risk health factors until it's too late.
Posted by: John at September 22, 2006 10:48 AMMore moral equivalency gone mad.
CDC is just another wholly subsidiary of the looney left. Gays, drug users, and prostitutes should be tested. Now that the blood supply is safe, there's little chance of the rest of us getting AIDS and for the agency tasked with protecting our public health to buy into a patently false assumption to placate militant gays is irresponsible.
What other decisions are they making for purely political reasons?
One what?
