DOPE SLAP:

Gone to Pot? (Mary Beckman, 6 July 2006, ScienceNOW Daily News)

In what could be a coup for antimarijuana forces, new research shows that rats exposed to pot's active ingredient at an early age devour more heroin as adults than rats without early exposure.

Puritan Nation is always right.

I know probably a 100 current and former smokers of pot. Not one has ever used heroin.

Ever know any heroin users? All the ones I know, and coke users for that matter, started with pot?

Know anyone who never used pot? None of the ones I know ever used heroin or coke.

So would you repeal the 21st Amendment? Surely that's very anti-Puritan.

Yes, Prohibition worked quite well and it was unwise to repeal it. However, alcohol is not destructive per se and is central enough to the traditional social structure that it would have been better not to try Prohibiting it. The means we've used since, narrowing its use, availability, marketting, etc. has been even more effective.
