MEANWHILE, ALONG THE AXIS OF GOOD:
India, Israel discuss joint space project (Tzvi Zinger, 6/15/06, Ynet)
A senior delegation from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has visited Israel secretly to discuss future cooperation and showed interest in new Israeli defense industries’ advancements. The delegation met with senior officials from the Science Ministry and from the defense industries.
The signal achievement of Anglo-Americanism and the End of History is that Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and Confucian states have more in common with the Christian states and with each other than separates them. Posted by Orrin Judd at June 16, 2006 12:54 PM
And your Arab candidate for membership in the Anglosphere is....?
Posted by: Tom C.,Stamford,Ct. at June 16, 2006 1:44 PMLet's all sing it: "One of these things is not like the others...."
Posted by: PapayaSF at June 16, 2006 1:52 PMArab is a race. But Morocco, Tunisia, Dubai, Kuwait, Iraq, etc. are all candidates. Of course, non-Arab Muslim countries like Indonesia & Turkey are already strategic partners.
Posted by: oj at June 16, 2006 2:14 PMI've always had the same thoughts about race as OJ does on species: a non-real construct of people-haters (if they're a different race, we can treat them differently, right?). Personally, I see only one race, and that's mankind. Culture or even ethnicity are better words for describing a group of similar people.
Posted by: Jay at June 16, 2006 2:39 PMBut Darwinist are rarely racists.
Posted by: PapayaSF at June 16, 2006 4:54 PMDarwinism is racism.
Posted by: oj at June 16, 2006 4:59 PMOh, come on. Race is every bit as real as species.
Posted by: ghostcat at June 16, 2006 10:28 PMmaybe it's culture.what's a race?
Posted by: Tom C.,Stamford,Ct. at June 16, 2006 11:08 PMThe connection between Darwin and racism is far weaker and more tenuous than the connection between the Koran and Islamic terrorism, yet OJ thinks rejection of Darwin is very important because his ideas are supposedly a huge danger to Western society, but anyone worried about Islam is supposedly deluded and/or racist and/or "Islamophobic."
Except, of course, there are no known gangs of Darwinists shooting and beheading and hijacking and suicide bombing. No Darwinists want to kill me or the people I know. One has to look pretty hard these days to find a Darwinist who wants to exterminate Jews. No Darwinist leader has declared war on America. No Darwinist wants to impose, by force, a set of centuries-old religious laws on me, laws from a dead culture about everything in life, laws that supposedly supercede every law ever passed in this republic.
So I think some priorities are a bit askew around here.
Posted by: PapayaSF at June 17, 2006 1:41 AMYou'll surely have noticed how the same folks who are obsessed with immigration at places like NRO and V-Dare are also some of the few on the Right who are Darwinist. Their anti-immigrationism is often nothing more than a Darwinian attempt to defend the sanctity of white blood. Likewise, it's the Darwinists who support abortion, eugenics, deportations, and other "natural" laws that they think are eternal, which have been far more deadly than the Holocaust, which was just a more honest instance of Applied Darwinism. And the Darwinists have killed and continue to kill tens of millions in the West while the Islamic terrorists -- whose ideology is a modern rationalist heresy within Islam as Darwinism is a heresy of Christianity -- have managed only a few thousand.
Your choice of comparisons is entirely apt though, both Islamicism and Darwinism are evil and need to be destroyed
Posted by: oj at June 17, 2006 9:10 AMTheir anti-immigrationism is often nothing more than a Darwinian attempt to defend the sanctity of white blood.
Maybe for a few, but for most it's an attempt to defend the Anglosphere, the Constitution, and traditional American society.
Darwinists...continue to kill tens of millions
If Darwin gets blamed for abortion, why not crystal meth and violent video games? This is beyond silly. How many people are following Darwin when deciding to get an abortion?
Islamicists have certainly killed far more than "a few thousand." Toss the Iran-Iraq War in there, since Baathism should fall into your category of "modern rationalist heresy." That alone adds about three zeros to your number.
But if you can go back to WWII and Darwin for evidence of the evils of Darwin, I should be able to go back to the Ottoman Empire and the Siege of Vienna and Saladin for evidence of the evils of Islam.
Posted by: PapayaSF at June 17, 2006 1:10 PMNo, just the race. The immigrants are more American than the secularists and racists who oppose them.
Ba'athism is purely Western and rationalist--it makes no pretense of being Islamic.
There's nothing evil about simple expansionism.
Posted by: oj at June 17, 2006 1:37 PMIraqi Baathism certainly did make a pretense of being Islamic: the Koranic verse Saddam added to the flag is only one example.
There's nothing evil about simple expansionism.
I'm sure the souls of the countless multitudes of Christians, Jews, and others killed by Muslims or converted to Islam at swordpoint during its first 900 years would disagree.
Posted by: PapayaSF at June 17, 2006 3:48 PMSaddam likened himself to Stalin. He only gussied it up with Islamic icons when powerstarted slipping away. Muslims weren't fooled.
They're drowned about by the tens of millions of barbarians we whacked along our crusading way.
Posted by: oj at June 17, 2006 3:54 PMThe Crusades were defensive wars, a response to violent Muslim expansionism.
Posted by: PapayaSF at June 17, 2006 7:30 PMNo, they aren't.
