BAD ENOUGH THE BLACKS OUTNUMBER US:
Open Borders Threaten Jewish Clout (Stephen Steinlight, June 16, 2006, The Forward)
In passing President Bush's Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act last month, a bipartisan Senate coalition has shown itself to be suffering from the dubious, irresponsible mindset articulated in Yiddish as "Sie machen sich nicht wissentig" and by Thomas Aquinas as "Ignorantia Affectata": willfully making themselves unknowing while feigning ignorance about inconvenient facts.A majority of Senate Democrats chose to pander to Latinos, abandoning principle and the party's historical base to placate a potentially larger electorate.
When your party is nothing but a coalition of special interest anything that threatens to tip the balance in favor of one group--especially one that doesn't share the ideology of the rest--is destabilizing. Posted by Orrin Judd at June 16, 2006 9:59 AM
Whaddya mean "us," white man?

What an interesting time to be a political science fan! The game of "52- pick up" some of us saw coming is beginning. http://www.brothersjudd.com/blog/archives/2005/03/are_the_secular_supposed_to_ju_1.html
Your comment is exactly right. In this environment the party relying on a "united front" of Madisonian factions is, well, screwed. Being overwhelmed by contradictions, the coalition of folk-enemies and culture-traitors simply explodes.
It is too early in the game for predictions, but it is fun to watch.
Posted by: Lou Gots at June 16, 2006 10:30 AMI wonder how the Hispanic caucus voted on removing William Jefferson (D-LA) from the Ways & Means Committee. And how did ol' Charlie Rangel (the presumptive Chair) vote)?
