THANKS A MILLIONS, SADDAM:

UN chief in surprise Iraq visit (BBC, 11/12/05)

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on a surprise visit.

He is expected to meet Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari and other members of the Iraqi government.

The oil-for-food scandal has made Mr. Annan pleasantly biddable, eh?

I was just in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop in.

BTW, we can really settle the accounting dispute between friends, no?

Perhaps the boom wasn't lowered on the UN in exchange for more UN support of Iraq, going against Syria, etc.

Just touring the old haunts.

Kofi better be careful with associating with the elected Iraqi leadership, or he's going to lose what little support he still has in the United States.

He just can't let Condi and Rumsfeld and that, that man! stand him up, now can he?

Maybe he's there to dig up some buried treasure.
