Bush, Bono have lunch at the White House (The Associated Press, October 19, 2005)
In town for a concert, U2 rock star Bono was invited to lunch Wednesday with the president. White House press secretary Scott McClellan said the meeting at the executive residence would be a follow-up on talks he had with President Bush in July at the G-8 summit in Scotland.Posted by Orrin Judd at October 19, 2005 5:36 PM"They had a very good discussion about some of our common priorities," McClellan said. Yes, it's good to finally see someone in the White House with some idea of what's going on in the world. It's just odd that they don't have more folks like Bono, or any number of movie starts, Reagan doesn't count though because his acting didn't start until he got into the White House. And this isn't even counting the really intelligent ones, like Chomsky, though he was invited to give a talk at the State Department a while back, which he accepted.KB
