WHAT A SISSY:

Cindy Sheehan Takes on the Democrats, Hillary Clinton (Kristen Lombardi, September 20th, 2005, Village Voice)

[S]heehan isn’t stopping her critique with Bush. On the contrary, she has begun to set her sights on Congress and the Democratic Party as well. When she spoke in Brooklyn on the night before, she took note of the fact that Senator Hillary Clinton voted to authorize Bush to use force in Iraq and– like most Senate Democrats–has done little to bring the troops home. Clinton, in fact, has filed legislation calling for more troops.

In an interview after her speech, Sheehan told the Voice she was “so frustrated” by leading Democrats like Clinton “who should be leaders on this issue, but are not.” Already, she has set up a future meeting with New York’s junior senator this weekend.

Why does Ms Clinton always wear pants if she's going to cave this fast?

Odds are the meeting will be on Saturday or Sunday, when all the media is focused on Hurricane Rita and whatever goofy thing Cindy says following the meeting can safely be buried in a one-column news brief on Page A-27, or relegated to a 15-word synopsis for the bottom-of-the screen crawl on the news channels.

The "any stick to beat Bush with" approach may be starting to bite Dems in the butt.

Exactly what is the downside of Senator Clinton meeting with lunatic? The media will trumpet Hillary's concern, contrast it with Bush's indifference and bury Sheehan's crazy side.

"this" lunatic - not lunatics in general. Though I suppose the point still holds.

Don't look now, OJ, but your idol John McCain has also agreed to meet with her.

He must be trying to relive being a POW.

Hillary's smartest move would be to denounce Sheehan as a puppet (of radical anti-Americans).

But, as we have discussed before, she will run away from the moonbat left, rather than confront them.

McCain can always tell the press he tried to help Cindy to let go of the anger, as he had to learn to do. He has an edge no one else has in talking with her.

Toughness counts, especially for a woman who wants to be president.

Posted by: oj at September 22, 2005 1:20 PM

Interesting . . . is McCain going to go moonbat, or set Mother Sheehan up to be Sister Souljah'd? I think the latter--imagine McCain the former POW ripping Cindy for her comment that "This country is not worth dying for."

If that happens, how does the MSM deal with it. Their favorite Republican attacks Cindy!

(Even more entertaining if it's Hillary! that Sister Souljahs Mother Sheehan.)

Fat legs OJ.

Thom: Have you seen confirmation of that? I saw that mentioned on the Corner, pointing to a Newsmax article that references the Village Voice article, but the Village Voice article doesn't mention McCain. So what's the real deal?

This reminds me of the famous line about Michael Dukakis, referring to his weakness vis-a-vis then-Massachusetts Senate President Billy Bulger: "How can he stand up to the Russians when he can't even stand up to a corrupt midget?"

Bob - That corrupt midget's brother had assassinated dozens. Every politician in Massachusetts was afraid of him.

Y'know, B. Clinton's Sista Soulja moment made politcal history.

Hillary would be nothing less than brilliant to tell Sheehan she mouns with her in her loss, and then proceed to tear her a new one over the contemptible crowd she chooses to hang with.

Clinton's ain't stupid.

We have Bill Weld to thank for appointing the currupt midget as President of UMASS.

Andrew: My request was for some evidence that McCain is going to meet with Sheehan, given that the Newsmax article is all I've seen claiming such and it references an article that says no such thing.

I don't believe for one second that Hillary will Sister Soljah anyone on the left--the crazies are MUCH more influential in the Democratic party than they were 13 years ago.

Posted by: b at September 22, 2005 5:10 PM

Bill Clinton didn't tear anybody a new one, as far I remember. (i'm not going to bother to google it). I think he mildly chastised her for the lyrics of her rap music. Hillary is capable of doing the same thing with Sheehan. Now if you think she will throw down the gauntlet, then forget about. Won't happen.

On second thought I did google it. Not rap lyrics but Sister Soujah said "If black people kill black people every day, why not have a week and kill white people?"

Clinton later on said "If you took the words 'white' and 'black' and you reversed them, you might think David Duke was giving that speech."

Doesn't seem like "tearing a new one" to me. He should have said the pyscho needs to be locked up.

h:

She and what he said to her were entirely beside the point--he did it in front of Jesse Jackson at a Jackson event.

Posted by: oj at September 22, 2005 6:26 PM

Well, "tearing a new one" might be hyperbole, but we all seem to agree, and are merely discussing how "intense" if you will, Hillary's act.

Fact is, she could score big by publically calling Cindy Sheehan on her (de facto) Death to Israel, US out of "occupied New Orleans", Iraqi beheading "freedom fighter" crap. Not to mention David Duke's and White power Stormfront's glowing reviews of Sheehan's conduct.

Discuss Hillary's true motives all we want, but let us not be shocked if the does it.

> That corrupt midget's brother had assassinated dozens. Every politician in Massachusetts was afraid of him.

What?! The Boston Globe said Whitey was the Robin Hood of South Boston!

But yeah, there is a logical explanation for the state of Massachusetts politics, and the tag team of Billy and Whitey Bulger are a big part of it.

Posted by: Bob Hawkins at September 22, 2005 9:23 PM

The Sister Soljuah moment, whem it comes, won't be until after she's sewn up the nomination in 2008, since she can speak out at that point and leave the far left of the party with nowhere else to go.

Attacking Mother Sheehan right now could be a tipping point for the left to turn on the missus, though I doubt it. But there's no point in taking chances -- meet with her in an out-of-the-way place with as little press coverage as possible, and then hope Cindy doesn't say anything so moumentally stupid it has a shelf life with the bulk of the public of more than 24 hours.
