LATE BUZZ:
Graham: Williams ‘seriously considered' (WENDY JEFFCOAT, 9/29/05, The Times and Democrat)
Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Karen Williams of Orangeburg is being "seriously considered" for a slot on the Supreme Court, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham says.Graham, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Wednesday he fully supports Williams as a candidate for the bench.
"I know she (Williams) is seriously being considered for the Supreme Court," Graham said. "(She) brings the experience and knowledge base required to be on the Supreme Court."
Her opinions upholding the Pledge and calling Miranda into question would have conservatives doing handsprings. Posted by Orrin Judd at September 29, 2005 1:26 PM
Given the recent history of the Administration, I'd say this is a feint and the real nominee is someone yet to be discussed by the cognoscenti.
OTOH, I've been to Orangeburg many times (I use to live in nearby Aiken), and I'd like to support anyone who got away from that eyesore.

He could even get to break the Democrat filibuster to put a SC judge on the SC--that's as good as Mother Sheehan shrieking at him.

Posted by: PapayaSF at September 29, 2005 3:52 PMI read somewhere she's thought to be unlikely to overturn Roe. All speculation of course, but I think she's an unlikely nominee.
