Man Takes Citizenship Oath, Wins Lottery (AP, 9/26/05)

A man who immigrated from Kenya to the United States found prosperity beyond his expectations on the day he became a U.S. citizen.

Shortly after Moses Bittok, of West Des Moines, took the oath of citizenship on Friday, he discovered he had a $1.89 million winning ticket from the Iowa Lottery's Hot Lotto game.

"It's almost like you adopted a country and then they netted you $1.8 million," Bittok said Monday as he cashed in his ticket. "It doesn't happen anywhere — I guess only in America."

Just remember, Moses: people have made and LOST $1.89 million in America too.

Then again, people have made and lost and again made $1.89 million in America as well.

Furthermore, ad nauseum.

Hopefully, there was some questions about the Internal Revenue Service on Moses' citizenship test. He's going to need to know about those things in a hurry.

Why does this sound like an e-mail scam: "I recently received a winning lottery ticket but cannot receive the monies because of citizenship application issues. If you will forward your account information to me, I will split the proceeds 50/50 with you."

Yeah, I'd call that a good day.

His only problem is that every day may seem like a letdown after this one...

Sure, then watch him win again.

Only in America! And what luck to be in the best country in the world to blow the lot on guns, lapdancers and cocaine!

(Only kidding - good on him. The media should report more good news stories amongst the otherwise relentless torrent of misery, crime and scare-mongering)

Yeah, this is really the kind of divine intervention which just goes to prove that the U.S. IS God's chosen country. What could be any clearer?KB

And the Left exists only to amuse us.

So it's three cheers for God and His love of gambling!
