WHAT EVOLUTION?:
Fossils Shed Light on Sea Turtle Evolution (AFP, Feb. 24, 2005)
Australian scientists Wednesday announced the discovery of a dozen fossils from some of the earliest species of sea turtle, which are believed to be 110 million years old.Posted by Orrin Judd at April 18, 2005 7:56 AMPaleontologist Ben Kear said the fossils, found late last year in the northeastern state of Queensland, would help scientists understand why sea turtles have remained virtually unchanged for over 100 million years.
"For all intents and purposes, if you were to see one (it) would look basically the same as sea turtles do today," Kear said.
