Islam is a special case due to its totalitarian nature, along with its opposition to modernity and freedom. Most importantly, since its adherents still believe in compelling societies to comply with its credo through the application of violence.

Muslims can never be permitted to live in civilized societies unless they give up their violent proclivities.

The American way treats people as individuals to be assesed as individualsone at a time. We are lucky enough not to have been completely conned by multicultural group, race and class politics advocated by the social scientists among us, even though they hace tried and been supported by almost half of one of our political parties. The founding documents speak of "man" and the "creator" not Christians, Jews or Muslims. Our Christian heritage makes it possible. Tolerance is a good word debased by secularists over the years. Europe is a good example of where it leads. Islam is problematic but is reformable under the guidance of traditional American virtues. Whether Islam comes along kicking and screaming or quietly, peacefully is the question.

There isn't a place on the planet where Muslims live in any numbers where they aren't busily trying to murder their non-Muslim neighbors.

Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Confucian and Shinto societies don't have this problem, Muslims do. It is something inherent in their culture. For one thing, Islam, uniquely among major world faiths, does not have the Golden Rule. Their version specifically permits Muslims to do anything they want to do to non-Muslims. That is why Muslim societies from Indonesia and Bangla Desh to Mali and Mauretania permit humans to be owned as slaves.

When they change this, give me a call.

OJ, so you are saying a few words in the EU constitution delaring their Christian tradition would make the muslims behave?

There are thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of Muslims in my city and they are almost universally employed, successful and hard-working. Their kids do very well in school. I am unaware of any act of religiously inspired violence from them to date. So, are they all sleepers or just bad Muslims?

I would never employ one and I would quit my job if one were hired in my office. And considering that the three people where I work who make the hiring decisions in my department are my boss, who's Orthodox Jewish, my buddy Vijay who gives several thousand a year to Shiv Sena back in India, and me, the likelihood of us hiring a Muslim is about nil.
