YOU CAN GO, WE'LL KEEP THE LAND:

Driving the blues from Jesusland (Wesley Pruden, 11/09/04, Washington Times)

Oh, dear. This may be considerably more serious than we thought.

Four years ago 36 days of uncertainty in Florida transformed the Gore-Lieberman team into the Sore-Loserman ticket, but the anger if not the rancor soon subsided. Alec Baldwin threatened to move to France but never did and eventually denied ever promising to leave. He may still be hanging about an airport somewhere in Southern California looking to hitch a ride to the Ivory Coast, but most of the losers, as grown-ups will, regrouped and reorganized to fight another day.

But this time the sore losers are serious. They're not just threatening to abandon their CDs, bongs, gongs, sandals, and dirty underwear and pile into ancient Volvos with bags of vegan trail mix and bean sprouts to move on to Canada, Britain and France.

The Internet is buzzing with talk of subtracting the blue states and forming a new nation, alternately called Jesusland, or Coastopia or simply the Blues. The Pentagon is monitoring the borders for unauthorized insurgent-troop movements but Fort Sumter was still in federal hands at press time.

What is it with the Democrats and secession whenever an primate-like Christian moralist is elected?

Baldwin also urge viewers of Conan O'Brien show to stone Henry Hyde to death for his part in the Clinton impeachment in '98. Too bad for him, he cannot deny that incident, only to brush aside as a joke.

Sure the behavior is amusing and easily made more so by clever writers. But, fun times and jokes aside, what are we to make of the outburst of such infantile behavior from so many of the "serious" quarters of society? People from Erehwon are capable of serious excursions into the odd. But are their passports all stamped with insanity?

luciferous:

They are infantile, that's why they're on the Left.

God forbid it should ever come to it but those of us in Jeebusland are much better armed than our Blue counterparts are.

I'm a Baby Boom kid,
WAAH! WAAH! WAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

It wouldn't be a fair fight. It is amusing to contemplate, however, Southern evangelicals presiding over 'Reconstruction' of San Francisco.

Any war between the Blue and Red States would remind me of the old Tom Lehrer song 'The Folk Song Army.'

Remember the war against Franco, that's the kind where each of us belongs.

Though he may have one all the battles we had all the good songs.
