UNTYING THE OTHER HAND:
Govt is serious on granting women political rights: PM (Arab Times, November 9, 2004)
The government is serious about granting full political rights to women, KUNA quoted Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as saying. Speaking to newly-recruited army personnel on his visit to the Sixth Army Brigade at Al-Liyah in northern Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah said, "the government wants to give women their rightful place in the society before presenting this issue at the Parliament." Responding to questions on the Amiri grant of KD 200 to each Kuwaiti, the Prime Minister said, "we are happy with the grant and so are citizens." He urged Kuwaitis - who don't need this grant - to donate the money to the Fund for Needy People, saying "I, my brothers, children and grand children are planning to donate this amount to the Fund."Posted by Orrin Judd at November 9, 2004 10:01 AM
