SOMEBODY TAKE CHARLIE COOK'S SHOELACES:
Losing it (Jay Bryant, September 4, 2004, Townhall)
Remember how when John Kerry didn't get any bounce from his convention and everyone went into high pundit mode and invented lots of structural reasons why such a thing could happen – like for example that with emotions so high in this election, there aren't any undecided voters left to bounce. Remember that?

Kerry has never before been in an election where he was not the prohibitive favorite, where he did not have vastly more money than his opponent, and where he has to cope with news coverage that is anything other than sycophantic. He hasn't got the faintest clue what to do. It's like a fighter who's spent a career facing bums and tomato cans who all of the sudden gets thrown in the ring with Lennox Lewis. Kerry is the Gerry Cooney of politics.
