ONE A DAY:

Beer, it's good for what ails you (JANET RAUSA FULLER, September 16, 2004, Chicago Sun-Times)

Beer drinkers may have yet another reason to hoist a cold one -- but make that just one.

According to a new study out of Canada, beer has the same heart-healthy benefits as red wine.

Researchers at the University of Western Ontario found that drinking one beer provides the same increase in antioxidant activity in the body as a glass of red wine, which has long been touted for its medicinal properties.

Three beers had an adverse effect on antioxidant activity, according to the study, which will appear in the December journal of Nonlinearity in Biology, Toxicology and Medicine.

"You get the optimum effect at one beer," said lead researcher John Trevithick.

Moderation, in all things.

How about one glass of beer and one of wine?

1 beer isn't moderation. It's teasing.

That's my regime Kevin. One beer, one wine, and then Jack Daniels the rest of the day. Like OJ said moderation, don't over do it.

Wine for the wife.

But...but..what about TWO beers?

"Moderation, in all things."
Except, of course, marijuana which is the devil's weed and must be struck from the face of the earth. Right?

Canadians. Figures.

Mr. Resnick;

If they're Candadians, by "one beer" one presumes they meant "one beer pitcher". That's how they count ’em in the Great White North, eh?

AOG: Good point - the container matters.

I tried that one on my mom years ago while home for summer after the first year of college. What....only had 2 beers, ma." She then confronted me with the 40oz-ers out of the trash. D'Oh!

AOG:

Up here in Canada it is considered irresponsible and self-indulgent to have more than one beer.

At breakfast.

Did you all note that the article says nothing about the timespan and that it was our wild and crazy leader who inserted the "a day" proviso?

Moderation, in all things.

Including moderation.

That's right, Breck.
