50-1:

81 per cent of Germans would vote for Kerry, poll shows (DPA, 1 September 2004)

Most Germans don't like US President George W. Bush and a poll released Wednesday showed a whopping 81 percent would vote for Democratic Party candidate Senator John Kerry.

The Stern magazine poll showed just 8 percent of Germans would vote for Bush, with 11 percent saying they would be unwilling to cast a ballot for either Bush or Kerry.

Of course, 99% of Germans would vote for Adolf Hitler.

The ones who would vote for Bush have all emigrated over the past century or so, in large part to get away from what they were leaving behind.

Hope Kerry runs an ad with this.

Although, assuming fifty million German voters, that means there are four million Germans I'd like to meet. Considering the propaganda they have been drowning in from all sides, the constant demonization of both Bush and the States and the total absence of any countering voices, I'm actually a little impressed.

This is absurd on so many levels. First off, Germans no *nothing* about the US presidential candidates---no more than they know about Canadian PM candidates -- or Americans know about German PM (Presidential?) candidates. So any opinion they express is based on near total ignorance.

Second off, this is of a piece with their opinions on World matters. They know that whatever opinion they hold, it has absolutley no bearing on the world, since they have no means of converting their opinions into deeds.
That being the case, they can and will have the most absurd and extreme opinions they want--because they are cost-less.

Genecis: I'd like to see the Republicans run that add. "Kerry for President: Elect a German hero" or "Kerry: What harm can come from humoring 45 million Germans" or "Frankfurt says, we go well with Heinz."
