THE GENERAL'S FIFTEEN MINUTES ARE OVER:
Clark Proposes Strategy for Iraq (Fox News, November 06, 2003)
Slipping in the polls, and under fire for what critics call outlandish and unfounded criticism against the Bush administration's foreign policy, Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark unveiled his four-part plan Thursday for the future of Iraq. [...]The plan reflects a shift from his ongoing criticism of the administration to offering his own solutions. According to his so-called "Success Strategy," Clark would:
- Replace U.S. troops in Iraq with NATO forces led by the United States;
- Replace the U.S. civilian administrator with one from an allied nation;
- Close Iraq's borders, rebuild its military and increase its intelligence-gathering abilities; and
- Require greater consultation with European allies before taking any pre-emptive strike.
Is he running for president of the U.S. or head of the EU? Posted by Orrin Judd at November 6, 2003 8:52 PM
My plan is even better. First, we obtain troops from the Fairie king . . .
Posted by: David Cohen at November 6, 2003 9:13 PMI call this the Sally Field "You like me! You really, really like me!" Iraqi occupation plan. As with the actress' Oscar acceptance speech, Clark (and Lieberman, who claims Wes stole his plan) seem to feel that affirmation by European nations and the U.N. for our actions is the path to true happiness, at least for the Democratic Party.
The problem is if Wesley wins election and, during the next four years, there is another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. If we determine the source was Iran, for example, if Clark gathers his coalition and suddenly France, Germany or some other NATO or U.N. Security Council member says "not so fast" or "fuggeddaboudit," does President Clark stick with his coalition plan or pull a cowboy George W. Bush move and go it alone?
Posted by: John at November 6, 2003 10:01 PMIt's a shame. I had thought that Clark had some firm ideas, and a spine.
My bad.
Posted by: Michael Herdegen at November 7, 2003 6:11 AMWhat NATO forces and what European allies other than those with us now? The Fairie King might be an option.

Sure, and drop warning leaflets at least two days before all surprise attacks. This is a General?
It's the Euro-magnet again. Try inserting any other nation or region into that sentence without coming off like a complete fool.
