Imagine my chagrin, having bought the book so I could write a review, when it turns out that the entire text of Herbert Butterfield's great essay The Whig Interpretation of History is online.

That's a book I ought to read again. I read it in my early 20s but did not have enough background in the controversy to understand it.



Odd, though, you should admire it so. His book on history of science ought to be poison to you, Orrin.
