AXIS OF THE WILLING:

US senator calls for Indo-US free trade pact (Josy Joseph, 12/13/02, Rediff)
US Senator Sam Brownback has called for a free trade agreement between India and the United States, even as he warned that a part of the foreign direct investment flowing into China might end up in modernising its military and threatening global security. [...]

The US has 'no better partner' than India in its fight against terrorism, he said. America's focus on Iraq is part of a 'sequentially' planned US war on terrorism, he added.

This is an excellent idea from maybe the most underrated US Senator. Posted by Orrin Judd at December 13, 2002 1:15 PM

While worldwide reduction of tariffs is good, I like the idea of bilateral free trade between individual countries as an incentive for other countries to act more like we would like them to. The agreements with Chile, Singapore are a good start, countries that are key to the war on terror (India, Turkey, some asian and african nations) should be next.

Related note - some are still complaining about the steel tariffs as Bush does these deals which will have a much bigger impact
