THE PLO'S ANCHORMAN:

Readers not buying Jennings' 9/11 book (PAUL D. COLFORD, October 2nd, 2002, NY Daily News)
Peter Jennings' "In Search of America" is a book in search of readers.

Despite heavy promotion by the publisher, a weeklong tie-in series on ABC and big pushes by the ABC anchorman and coauthor Todd Brewster, the coffee-table book looks like the first high-profile stumble of the fall publishing season.

After a month in stores and stiff competition from Sept. 11 books, "In Search of America" has yet to make The New York Times best-seller list and failed to place last week among USA Today's top 150 sellers.

As a result, publisher Hyperion is offering to share with retailers a 40% markdown of the book's $50 list price in hopes of spurring sales at $29.95.

Such a strategy usually means a publisher wants to head off a massive return of unsold copies.

Hyperion, which confidently printed 725,000 copies, and ABC are both part of Disney.

Gee, this seems like such an opportune time to publish a book by an anti-American/anti-Zionist foreigner who was Hannan Ashrawi's boy toy. Posted by Orrin Judd at October 3, 2002 2:32 PM

Let's get the conversation up to gutter level-Jennings had a date with Ashrawi thirty-plus years ago when she was a Beruit coed.

I don't know what my old college girlfriend from the early 80s is doing, but if she was some liberal doofus today, I wouldn't want that held against me.

If you saw the television tie-in, the low sales are no surprise. Unwatchable.

I wonder what Ashrawi looked like thirty years ago.

She looked like me with 1/4 less hair.

I was reminded on how he tried to rationalize the Munich massacre, at

the time of ABC special;

commemorating it. Hinting that the

Olympic Committee's rejection of a PLO bid; is what prompted their

action

Let's recall that this unspeakable creature's father was head of Canadian Broadcasting, and the wretched son has yet, to the best of my knowledge, become a US citizen. I do like Canada. In fact, I'm awfully pleased that we have such an excellent neighbor on such a long border. But can you picture a US citizen living in Canada retaining his citizenship and giving his nightly distortion of the news to Canadians? Their laws wouldn't permit it. (That's how we were blessed with Doug and Bob McKenzie.) Who are the hosers, Canadians or Americans? They let this pink swine out of their country, and like fools, we install him in as an anchor. Byron's obviously not terribly perceptive. It wasn't just a date. Besides, Jennings has shown a disgusting consistency through the decades. And the whore in this case is the male: No anchor should have prostituted himself before Clinton the way this sycophant did, but that's how he managed to be asked to the White House. As to the Beirut affair, as Virgil says: Ab uno, disce omnes.

Excellent epigram, Bernard.

The second picture down shows here at the time. She's the woman standing the right.

The text is obviously overly adoring, but then again you're getting your news from the Kahan Koo-Koo's, so maybe it's in the ballpark after all.

Further, the Kahan piece ignores the fact that Ashrawi has long been a critic of the PA, and the views she expressed are not extreme, but pretty much accepted overseas by both left and right.

Also, the Sunn'i Hamas didn't have anything to do with the Beirut bombing. That was the Shi'ite Hizbollah. Something else the KKK's forgot to mention: at that time, 1983, Hamas was being funded and nurtured by the Likud government as a counter-weight to the PLO.
