THE J.V.:

McCain Camp's Fake Press Pass Lampoons Obama, Media (John Bentley, 7/22/08, CBS News)

John McCain’s campaign had a little fun at Barack Obama’s expense tonight, issuing a fake press pass to the McCain traveling press on the bus as we landed at the airport here. The front of the pass identifies the McCain press corps as the “JV Squad” and has the caption “Left Behind to Report in America.”

The reverse side features a Frenchman pouring a glass of wine with the same caption en francaise (“Laisse en arriere pour faire un rapport en Amerique”).

Maybe Ryan Lizza could use it?

"But the New Yorker writer Ryan Lizza, whose long, long article on Barack Obama's early political days in Chicago's ward politics was the reason for the magazine's controversial cover by Barry Blitt depicting Obama as a Muslim, has been barred from traveling with Obama on his foreign field trip this week."

Actually the article was quite informative, well-researched, and in no way reflective of the cover. Too bad it didn't received any coverage at all. Almost like it was planned that way...

It's really sad when professional comics, in deference to The One™, stop doing their job and a political campaign is forced to write and perform these obvious jokes.

I saw the Jon Stewart on the Daily show make a joke about O going to Bethleham to see the "manger where he was born". The lefty audience moaned.
