IF HE WANTS TO JOIN THE ANGLOSPHERE...:
China Warns Sarkozy Not to See Dalai Lama (STEVEN ERLANGER, 7/09/08, NY Times)
President Nicolas Sarkozy of France, whose office announced Wednesday that he would, after all, attend the opening ceremonies of Beijing’s Olympic Games, was warned by China on Tuesday not to meet with the Dalai Lama in France next month.China’s ambassador to France, Kong Quan, told reporters there would be “serious consequences” for Chinese-French relations if Mr. Sarkozy meets the Dalai Lama, asserting that it “would be contrary to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs.”
...Mr. Sarkozy needs to grasp that we don't recognize such a principle where evil regimes are concerned. Their internal affairs are the affair of decent people everywhere. Posted by Orrin Judd at July 9, 2008 4:27 PM
That ensures Sarko to meet with the Dalai Lama, else France will lose her face and Sarko will lose his job.

I know this will sound like a hopelessly blatant speciman of ass-kissing, but you are the greatest I've ever seen at putting large thoughts into small sentences. I think you're even better at it than Yogi Berra or Eric Hoffer, which is saying something.
When does the book of political aphorisms come out?

One small correction, you're not the absolute greatest, you're second. Christ was better. ("Where your treasure is..."; "He who asks, receives..." etc.)
Bet you're blushing now. ;-)

Posted by: oj at July 12, 2008 6:13 PMYeah, try telling Christ that the world appreciates a truth-teller...
(Although perhaps historical experience suggests this much: If you're lucky, they'll appreciate you afterwards.)

oj, I've been saying the same thing to a friend of mine for quite some time. He was really against the invasion of Iran because, "it was not our place to invade the regime of Saddam Hussein."
He is conservative and religious. What do you say to someone who won't see the world for what it is? There is no true sovreignty anymore. But he is clueless to this fact.
