Suspect excesses? (Bruce Fein, July 8, 2008, Washington Times)

President Bush's post-Sept. 11, 2001, excesses are alarmingly reminiscent of Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse-tung.

Boy, they just don't make Reynolds Wrap like they used to...

Which is why the same people who see Mr. Bush in similar light as Mr. Fein are out there sporting chic sports bags with Mao's image, and T-shirts with Mao/Stalin lover Che.

Wait a minute....

Not Hitler? What is Fein, a neocon?

Since Bush is not Mao, then Huzaifa Parhat has been treated justly?

Or momentarily forget the justice issue, why is the military even wasting time giving free food and board to someone peripheral to the original military goals. Seems to me Fein has made a valid point even if his analogy might be over the top.

The Times story says, "...Chinese communist coercive techniques used during the Koran War ..."

Has the Islamic backlash started yet against reference to the "Koran War"?

Has the Islamic outrage started yet over reference to the "Koran War"?

H - The interesting person to compare Bush to is not Mao or Stalin or Hitler. Nor is it to previous Presidents like Lincoln or (the most valid comparison) Harry Truman.

No, the interesting person to compare him to will be the NEXT President, particularily if they are a Democrat.

And all of a sudden, NewPrez is confronted with ALL the same issues. We haven't been attacked since 9/11. Well, we'd BETTER NOT be. At all.

Not if NewPrez is gonna entirely forgo wiretapping Ali Hassan in Buffalo when he calls his buddies in Yemen. Or, for that matter, when he calls Yemen from Khandahar. Not if NewPrez is gonna close Gitmo, and then say, "what the hell DO we do with these captured people proudly planning to kill us, but whose lawyers can OJ them off?" Not if NewPrez is gonna turn his back on Iraq and maybe even Afghanistan and other jihadist conflicts. Not if NewPrez is gonna refuse to stand with Israel's fight against jihadism, but WILL stand with the Euro-left's and academia's despicably craven and cowardly grovelling to same.

And if NewPrez does NOT do the above.... then he's just doing what Mr. Bush did for the exact same reasons Mr. Bush did. Namely, they are necessary for Western Civilization (to paraphrase DeGaulle) to be considered "a serious civilization".

That is the comparison I look forward to. Should be interesting.

And the Internet remembers all.

That article was nothing more than a poorly spelled and badly written string of non sequiturs.
