Posted by: Joseph Hertzlinger at May 11, 2008 2:27 AMA very disturbing article. The defendant had abused bicycles, but the Swedish journalist, and, presumably, the entire Swedish legal system has abused language, which is much worse.
The crime here was criminal mischief: damaging some else's property. Here, based of the nominal amount of damage, it would have been a petty charge--handled like a traffic ticket.
Property cannot be "molested" of "assaulted," not if those words mean anything at all. Confucious weeps.
