Iraqi PM orders nationwide freeze in raids on militiamen (The Associated Press, April 4, 2008)
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Friday ordered a nationwide freeze on raids against suspected Shiite militiamen, according to a statement issued by his office.The announcement came one day after Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr, whose Mahdi Army militia fought government troops in Basra and Baghdad last week, hinted at retaliation if the arrests of his followers did not stop.

Two days later, fiery anti-U.S. Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr announced a truce to end six days of clashes with Iraqi and U.S. troops in the southern city of Basra that spread through southern Iraq and Baghdad.
U.S. officials say Sadr is currently in Iran.
"Tehran, by using its positive influence on the Iraqi nation, paved the way for the return of peace to Iraq and the new situation is the result of Iran's efforts," Hakim was quoted as saying, without giving further details.

Once again, there's more here than meets the media's BDS-filtered perceptions. Tater has offered up something of considerable value to Maliki. Probably specific targets and coordinates.
It's a win/win for both him and Maliki.
