Obama Could Get 'Swift Boated': Clinton Supporter Says Anti-Obama Campaign in the Works (KATE SNOW, April 19, 2008, ABC News)

Rick Sloan says he doesn't want to see the Democrats get "Swift Boated" again this time. So the communications director for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has sent a couple of dozen friends union leaders and Democratic activists, mainly an urgent plea to pay attention to Sen. Barack Obama's connections with the 1960s anti-war group, the Weather Underground, and other leftist thinkers. [...]

In the memo, Sloan lays out the case he believes Republicans are making and would make against Obama if he were the Democratic nominee, linking the senator to Weather Underground founders Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.

"According to Weatherman communiqu├ęs and papers compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation into a 403 page summary, Ayers and Dohrn toed the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist line. They were hardcore Communists bent on world revolution," Sloan writes.

"Ayers and Dohrn were responsible for bombings of the US State Department, US Capitol, the Pentagon, the National Guard Headquarters and nineteen other sites. Two other Weathermen, the parents of Ayers and Dohrn's adopted son, Chelsa, were convicted of murdering two policemen and a security guard during a Brinks truck robbery," he says.

Sloan says Rove and Republicans would "eviscerate" Obama if he were the Democratic presidential candidate. He recalls links that have been reported in the press between Obama and Ayers and brings up other leftist leaders and ideologues.

"Rove's frame for the fall campaign will be filled with revolutionary figures -- Marx, Lenin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh and Che Guevara. His audio tapes of Ayers, Dohrn and other Weathermen will provide the screams of revolution. The bombing of the US Capitol, the Pentagon and the US State Department will serve as b-roll for his television ads that will have one final visual as the announcer gravely intones 'Their Change -- Not What You Had In Mind?'" he predicts.

She should have run it in Iowa.

If the dems don't want their candidates "swiftboated," i.e., have the truth told about their past activities, they should vet them before they declare themselves candidates.

IMO there's more about Obama's Communist and Moslem associations that isn't known yet, but in today's world nothing can be kept secret, so we'll be hearing all about it as long he stays in the race.

In typical lefty style, calling for Hillary to drop out really means that it's Obama who should drop out because he's the one most likely to expose them all and pull the entire party as it is currently constituted down on their heads. Not one of the prominent dems can survive having the contents of their closets exposed on Your Tube.

The Clinton administration was one long struggle at finding just the 'proper' amount of radicalism. Bill Lann Lee was OK (although only by recess appointments); Lani Guinier was not. Maryanne Frances Berry was OK; Marion Wright Edelman was not.

Hillary's problem is that she would have hob-nobbed with Ayers, too. After all, she hugged Mrs. Arafat. Her husband pardoned the FALN bombers. And old Yasser himself was a platinum guest at the White House. Hillary was equally at home on the board of Wal-Mart and at anarchist bull-sessions at Yale.

When the Democratic candidates have their pasts questioned, the Left shrieks (remember Larry O'Donnell's spitting rage at John O'Neill, the lead swiftboater?). But shouldn't they be proud of their man's service for the cause? Shouldn't MoveON have trumpeted Kerry's exhibit in the Hanoi war museum as a shining example? Shouldn't Obama's views of America be a guiding light for the whole country to follow? Shouldn't Michelle be given prime-time for a speech about how pathetic America has been for 230 years?
