AND WE JUST GIVE AWAY BOOKS...

Mick's Tix: "First thought in my head was, what are they calling me for?" (WOWT, 2/01/08)

Dennis "Mick" Murphy is on his way to Arizona to catch the Super Bowl this weekend. The Omaha man won the tickets through a national contest he entered here on WOWT.COM.

Murphy picked up the tickets during the Channel 6 Midday News on Friday where he told our Jim Siedlecki, "After this, they're going back in the envelope and I'll keep them real secure."

The tickets have a face value of $700 apiece.

Murphy found out that he had won on Thursday, a day after signing up for the random drawing.

"I was relaxing and the phone rang," he said. "So I got up to answer the phone and looked at the caller ID, saw that it was WOWT. First thought in my head was, what are they calling me for? And then it hit me: man, it must be the Super Bowl tickets."

The free tickets will get Murphy and his son in the gate at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

So, Brother Dryfoos, from Miami, and Brother Murphy, from Nebraska, get to go to the Super Bowl while the Hampshiremen are pinned down in a sleet storm. As long as the tv works we'll muddle through....

Have fun at the game, guys.

oj, I know you're for the Pats but isn't there a little itch in the back of your brain saying, "the Giants could actually beat these guys"?

No. I just watched the Giants-Pats game again last night and the differences are glaring. The only thing the Giants can do on offense is dump the ball to the TE, Boss, who should have a good game.

The big problem for the Giants is just the law of averages and reversion to the mean. Eli Manning isn't going to choke, but he is going to play back down to a realistic level, which means a few Pats picks. That's the ballgame.

Mr. Judd, No whining about not going to the Superbowl since if you were able to go it would violate The Time Zone Rule.

As I mentioned to Brother Murphy, there's nothing more painful than an NFL game in person--it's all timeouts and guys standing around. Football is the only game that is way better on TV.
