After two days of meetings with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, Bush took the day to focus on the horrors of the past -- as well as the joy delivered by his religion, brought to life during a walk through remnants of its earliest days.
On a five-hour emotional excursion, the president visited Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to the 6 million victims of the Holocaust. Then, walking where Jesus is said to have tended his ministry, he stood on the shores of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel, nearly within sight of Lebanon and Syria.
As the day went on, his countenance lifted from grim and teary to a cheery demeanor that brought peels of giggles from a group of nuns.

Does this mean the nuns were joyfully shedding their outer skins for our President? The mind reels.
Gerstenzang means, of course, "peals of giggles". A minor typo not really worthy of mention, were it not true that --
-- I am seeing such errors more and more often.
-- They are being comitted by people whose JOBS are to get it right, and to use words when doing so. Presumably, Gerstenzang has an editor who ALSO does not know the difference.
Example number 56,912 of why our educational systems suck, and how that is being passed on to our media. The ramifications of that.... well, we all know what they are, don't we.

Posted by: Andrew X at January 12, 2008 12:03 PMI guess I should mention my own minor error. I refer to the above error as a "typo", which negates the point of the comment.
I don't think it was a "typo", an error in typesetting made by the printer, usually resulting in a non-word or a non-sequitur, but was likely a grammatical error by the author, using a genuine word but incorrectly. Which is the entire point of the comment, of course.
