Richardson dropping of Democratic presidential race (NEDRA PICKLER, 1/10/08, Associated Press)

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is shelving his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination after back-to-back fourth-place finishes in the first two contests in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Setting aside the skirt-chasing question, he is the ideal VP choice for both Hillary and Obama (or for McCain, when you get right down to it). He has the executive experience and foreign policy chops that senators lack, is reasonably moderate, and has the Hispanic thing going on.

I agree with the strategy of giving up on women and blacks and courting Hispanics, but other than Jeb, who would be the best Hispanic partner for Maverick, and has that person any chance of being selected?

He's got no shot at a VP for Hillary. His bad rep is not for "skirt-chasing", but for repeated grossly inappropriate sexualized conduct towards women IN PUBLIC. Plus, what would his nomination do to black turnout after Hillary tears Obama down? Hillary has always needed to pick someone like Wesley Clark, and hope the GOP doesn't pick McCain.

Patrick: Before his loss in 2006 I would have said Henry Bonilla, despite his being an obvious light-weight, but now I got nothing...

Where else are blacks going to go? They hate the GOP.

Mel Martinez is the other alternative for McCain.

oj: Where will they go? Nowhere. Same as all the silly conservatives who stayed home in 2006. But the Dems can't afford anything other than their nearly compete turnout (as I stressed in my post, of course).

OJ, Mel Martinez is not a native-born citizen (he came over from Cuba), and thus can't be VPOTUS due to the presidential restriction carrying over to the vice-presidency.

However, Mark Sanford (SC GOV) wouldn't be a bad choice to help placate the wahoos.

Brad: If you want to make the wahoos heads explode, point out to them that McCain wasn't born in the US either (although he was born a citizen)...

C'mon, surely Dick Cheney can forge papers showing Mel was born at Gitmo...

(Thanks, I'd forgotten he was Cuban-born.)

Richardson should be disqualified for claiming that he was drafted to play pro baseball alone.

Wesley Clark is so utterly stupid that he would drag Hillary down in the end.
