Code Pink to take aim at Democrats in 2008 (S.A. Miller, December 11, 2007, Washington Times)

Leaders of the antiwar group Code Pink, frustrated by the ineffectiveness of Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill, today said they are mobilizing a campaign for regime change within the party in the 2008 elections.

The mostly female group — famous for disrupting congressional hearings and its demonstrators clad in pink T-shirts and tiaras — has applied for a new tax status that permits political work for its campaigns against Democrats as well as Republicans, Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin said.

Boy, her parents named her well.

That is not the name that her parents gave to her. She adopted it after her radicalization at Tufts.

She obviously had changed her name from "Medusa."

No Lou, Medea was the jealous wife of Jason (of the Argonauts). She turned on and killed several people, in addition to deserting and causing the death of her own children.

Thanks for the clarification Brandon. I was thinking along the same line as Lou and thought that "Snake Head" would be a fitting, though Oriental, nickname for her.

Genesis: Thanks, you got it right.

I can't fault Brandon--too much. I had been just a little too subtle. If the story had been about Cindy Sheehan, the "Medusa" tag would have been a lot more obvious. Here I tried it because the instant madam wingnut had been said to have named herself "Medea," where the other name from the Jason myth would have been a better fit.
