DID THE SOX PUT THE TRIBE IN A COMA?:

Marlins sending Cabrera, Willis to Tigers (Ken Rosenthal, 12/04/07, FOXSports.com)

Florida and Detroit have reached a preliminary agreement that will send star third baseman Miguel Cabrera and left-hander Dontrelle Willis to the Tigers for a package of young players headlined by outfielder Cameron Maybin and left-hander Andrew Miller, according to major-league sources.

Detroit will also send catcher Mike Rabelo and three prospects to the Marlins as part of the deal. Class AAA right-hander Dallas Trahern was mentioned Tuesday morning as one possible player to be included, according to sources.

You have to be impressed by how hard the best teams in the AL are trying to get even better...except for the Indians.

You got that nailed.

The package the Tigers are sending could easily be surpassed by the Tribe. I can put 3 or 4 different packages together in my sleep. None would involve a player needed next year for Cleveland. All would be better for the Marlins.

The Tribe needed to get better at 3rd and in LF and the bullpen. The Japenese pitcher signing was ok, as good as the meager domestic pickings. But zip elsewhere.

I don't undestand Shapiro's inaction. Keeping a sore armed Adam Miller is the only "reason" I can come up with.

Disturbing!

So, the Tigers give up Lastings Milledge 2.0 + a young pitcher who at least one analyst has noted is heading for shoulder or elbow surgery b/c of his delivery, and they get in return Manny Ramirez 2.0, a player as ready for Cooperstown as any other under 30 major leaguer. Swell.
