THE GOAL SHOULD BE MONOPOLY, NOT ABOLITION:

Obama to Urge Elimination of World’s Nuclear Weapons (JEFF ZELENY, 10/01/07, NY Times)

Senator Barack Obama will propose on Tuesday setting a goal of eliminating all nuclear weapons in the world, saying the United States should greatly reduce its stockpiles to lower the threat of nuclear terrorism, aides say. [...]

His speech was to come one day after an announcement by the Bush administration that it had tripled the rate of dismantling nuclear weapons over the last year, putting the United States on track to reducing its stockpile of weapons by half by 2012.

The exact number of weapons being dismantled, like the overall stockpile, is secret, but officials said Monday that with the planned reductions, the total number of American nuclear weapons would be at the lowest levels since Dwight D. Eisenhower was president.

To propose that America deprive itself of the capacity to use nuclear blackmail on evil regimes is inane morally and obviously dangerous as a matter of security policy.

Very good.

That Effendi Baraka Hussein Obama should suggest this treason tells us all we need to know about wim.

Without counter-value deterrent capability, the United States forfeits the utility of its conventional air and sea supremacy. Tactical nuclear weaponn are a significant countermeasure against air and naval forces. Country-busting stretegic weapons are a deterrent to nukes ditected against our ships and air bases.

More important, especially from the Left's perspective, the absence of a cheap nuclear monopoly makes the wasteful sea superiority necessary.

Superiority and supremacy are terms of art, whose definitions are fixed. http://www.answers.com/library/Military%20Dictionary-cid-2028335837

Superiority means we can operate without major interference from the enemy, our supremacy that the enemy cannot operate at all. In Gulf War Two we attained total air and sea supremacy.

The closest we got to supremacy in WWII, Lou, was during Operation Overlord. A pair of FW-190's were airborne and a few E-Boats were about, and the U-Boats assigned were kept out of the channel.

Otherwise - it was "Overlord". A fitting name.
