They don't hate the Iraqis, and they didn't hate the Vietnamese. They either seriously believe that Iraqis would be better off without us, or they are indifferent to their fate.

What else but hatred can explain the "when we leave only a small number of people will be purged and that will be because they collaborated with us" garbage that the left said about Vietnam (still do--I've heard it with my own ears) and now Iraq?

There comes a point where stupidity (or ignorance) is not a plausible defense. No one who defended the USSR/Stalin/communism/etc. after the 1930s can claim that they did not know what a hellhole it was, for example. They were not idealists. They were not duped. They were evil. Period.

The left has been spouting its racist drivel about how Iraqis are incapable of democratic self-government for years. Just as they did in Vietnam.
It may not be "hate" though. Could just be the left's traditional racism.

No, Brandon's right. The Iraqis now, and the Vietnamese before them, are and were just props and scenary for the morality play the Left writes in its own mind.

This show's been on forever, and in past seasons the "incapable of assimilating" role was played by the Irish, Slavs, Chinese, Japanese, Germans, Italians, . . . .

On the immigration matter, there is a distinction between immigrants who come here to to join us and the revanchists and irredentists who want to overthrow us.

As to that 1-in-5 Democrat folk-enemy. culture-traitor figure, we shouold not be suprised. Multi-culturalism is all about the revanchism and irredentism referred to above. Believe it: to the left, America is a rogue state, deserving to be defeated, destroyed and divided.

The difference being that the latter don't exist.
