FOX News Poll: Nearly 1 in 5 Democrats Say World Will Be Better Off if U.S. Loses War (Dana Blanton, 10/04/07, FOX News)

Nearly one out of every five Democrats thinks the world will be better off if America loses the war in Iraq, according to the FOX News Opinion Dynamics Poll released Thursday.

The percentage of Democrats (19 percent) who believe that is nearly four times the number of Republicans (5 percent) who gave the same answer. Seven percent of independents said the world would be better off if the U.S. lost the war.

Raising the obvious question: does the Left hate Iraqis as much as they did the Vietnamese?

They don't hate the Iraqis, and they didn't hate the Vietnamese. They either seriously believe that Iraqis would be better off without us, or they are indifferent to their fate.

Never blame on malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Brandon: Claiming that the left was "indifferent to their fate" is supposed to be a defense? What else but hatred can explain the "when we leave only a small number of people will be purged and that will be because they collaborated with us" garbage that the left said about Vietnam (still do--I've heard it with my own ears) and now Iraq?

There comes a point where stupidity (or ignorance) is not a plausible defense. No one who defended the USSR/Stalin/communism/etc. after the 1930s can claim that they did not know what a hellhole it was, for example. They were not idealists. They were not duped. They were evil. Period.

The left has been spouting its racist drivel about how Iraqis are incapable of democratic self-government for years. Just as they did in Vietnam.
It may not be "hate" though. Could just be the left's traditional racism.

No, Brandon's right. The Iraqis now, and the Vietnamese before them, are and were just props and scenary for the morality play the Left writes in its own mind.

And guess who gets to play the role of the moustache twirling villian and who gets to be the debonair hero in this little melodrama?

Mikey: the villian wears a pair of striped pants, a top hat with white stars and red stripes, and a blue vest. The hero is the hollow "strong" horse that lives in a cave.

You've seen this episode before, ic? Don't tell me how it ends.

I just love cliffhangers!

That's a theme of the far Right too, which is revealing.

The far right's version of the play features Hispanics that are incapable of assimilating into American society though Slav's, Chinese, Japanese, Germans, Italians and others have already done so. Of course they were assumed to be just as incapable of becoming Americans during their immigrant years as the Hispanics of contemporary times, but, doggone it, they're just certain they are right this time.

They're also uniformly anti-interventionist--American Conservative, Mises, Anti-War, Lew Rockwell, etc..

This has been going on for a while.

Novelist Tom Robbins just prior to the war : " . . intellectually, emotionally, and physically, (America) has been exhibiting all the characteristics of an adolescent bully, a pubescent punk who's too big for his britches and too strong for his age. Someday, perhaps, we may grow out of our mindless, pimple-faced arrogance, but in the meantime, it might do us a ton of good to have our butts kicked."

I'm sure he's very happy now.

This show's been on forever, and in past seasons the "incapable of assimilating" role was played by the Irish, Slavs, Chinese, Japanese, Germans, Italians, . . . .

On the immigration matter, there is a distinction between immigrants who come here to to join us and the revanchists and irredentists who want to overthrow us.

As to that 1-in-5 Democrat folk-enemy. culture-traitor figure, we shouold not be suprised. Multi-culturalism is all about the revanchism and irredentism referred to above. Believe it: to the left, America is a rogue state, deserving to be defeated, destroyed and divided.

The difference being that the latter don't exist.
