Nearly a year after Congress passed legislation calling for the construction of 700 miles of new fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border, about 15 miles have been built, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

But it did quiet the wahoos.

I am waiting for the first story of how illegal immigrant labor is being used to build the fence. It's guaranteed to happen. The story practically can be written ahead of time.

The old taunt about the Berlin Wall comes to mind: they build fences to keep people in, we build fences to keep them out... er, well, to have them do a little walking before coming in.

Robert Fisk should write a story on the fence. I'm sure there's a truther version of immigration and the fence somewhere out there.
