Impressive splat but nowhere near a record fall:

"Jersey skydiver Michael Holmes survived a two mile fall in New Zealand after his parachute failed...However, despite falling 12,000ft Michael survived. He fell into a blackberry bush at around 100 mph and suffered a punctured lung and broken ankle."

This month's Esquire has an interesting feature on what it's like to survive _____ . Mr. Holmes has an article which is accompanied by a few video captures, including one from 5 ft above impact.
