Angry barber reveals Edwards' $1,250 haircut (David Usborne, 06 July 2007, Independent)

The hairdressing flap that engulfed the presidential hopeful John Edwards earlier this year has burst back to life with the Beverly Hills stylist at the centre of it all revealing that he once charged the former senator much more than the $400 that was originally reported. A single trim in Atlanta cost $1,250.

The stylist, John Torrenueva, kept his counsel when news first broke in April about the pricey cuts he had given to Mr Edwards. But now the barber, who has tended to the likes of Marlon Brando, is blabbing and the details threaten to inflict even greater damage on his former client.

For instance, he reports first meeting Mr Edwards in 2003 as he was preparing for his first presidential run. It was in a Los Angeles hotel and he wasn't the only one invited. Also in the room were a bevy of other fashion experts all recruited to spruce up the senator's look.

If only Elizabeth deigned to cut her husband's hair.....

They could make a claim that they were cutting corners to pay for their house.

I doubt Elizabeth has any access to his hair or any other part of him.

As a citizen of North Carolina and the area Mr. Edwards "represented' as a one term senator, I find his campaign for the Presidency a joke. If his representation as a trial attorney is his claim to helping the poor (as his website states), then most citizens are more qualified than he. I ask, how much pro bona work did he perform? What else did he do to help the poor other than represent them in courts which had the result of making him a multi-millionaire? He was an absent US Senator and his run for VP with John Kerry DID NOT negate his running for a second term as he claimed. Rather, he would NOT have been re-elected by the people of North Carolina for a second term. He spent most of his time on the road fund-raising for the Democratic Party and 'building' his name in the organization so he could achieve his self-serving desire to run for President. Don't be fooled by the 'pretty face' or the family he uses for 'votes'. He's a self-serving person totally absorbed with himself and cares not one iota for the citizens of North Carolina or the poor. Check his record; what has he actually done other than run for VP and President? He has no record of serving the poor in volunteer areas. The group he was associated with at the University of North Carolina was created AFTER his run for VP with John Kerry. It is the only credential he has for 'helping the poor' and was soley a political ploy on his part to build his resume. By the way, he also speaks on issues affecting the poor at a nominal fee beginning as $50,000!
