KEEP THE SLAVES?:

One doesn't exactly look to bumper stickers for wisdom, but the orher day I saw one that's a strong contender for stupidest sentiment ever: "I'm Already Against the Next War!"

Isn't that necessarily ironic and a parody?

Tanks to Sherman.

Stupid, yes, but it sums up nicely the most basic values of much of today's democratic Left. They don't really oppose any specific conflict, so much as the very idea of defending this nation. They are after all, the counter-culture. Thus any effort to defend our culture is something to be denigrated, despised and resisted. That is why an all-purpose "Peace Movement" comes in so handy: it can field the usual flea-bitten mobs to protest anything from Reagan's deployment of the medium-range missiles that tipped the USSR into the ashbin of history, or George W. Bush's efforts to leverage Democracy against Islamo-facists. They are not for peace, they are simply against us. Rest assured, when the time comes to defend America against the next threat, they will hit the streets in colorful outrage once again. This, more than any other topic or issue, is why I became a Conservative lo those many years ago. And why I will remain one, despite niggling disagreements over spending, immigration or other trivialities.

I'm going with Mike -- as a proud VRWC member, that looks like a pretty cool bumper sticker ...

irony can be pretty ironic sometimes..

In the immortal words of Groucho, from "Horse Feathers":

"No matter what it is or who commenced it/I'm against it!"

OJ:

I've seen this inane bumper sticker repeatedly here in Nebraska. Meanwhile, you live in a college town and this is the first you've seen of it?

Hmmm. Clearly, the only logical solution is to avoid cars.
