SO TOO PASSES THE LIEBERMAN MOMENT:

Wyoming Sen. Thomas dead at 74 (MARY CLARE JALONICK Associated Press)

Wyoming Sen. Craig Thomas, a three-term conservative Republican who stayed clear of the Washington limelight and political catfights, died Monday. He was 74.

The senator's family issued a statement saying he died Monday evening at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. He had been receiving chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia.

Too sad. The article states that the D governor will appoint from a list of three nominees from the state Republican party.

It only passes until Senator Thomas is replaced, in accordance with Wyoming law, by another Republican. Is Lynne Cheney available?

That's rather gentlemanly of Dave Freudenthal to appoint a Republican. But then again, that's what small states do. I'm pretty certain that SD Gov. Mike Rounds would have done the same thing if Tim Johnson were to have died from the stroke he suffered.
