AFTER ALL, IT'S JUST ANOTHER LIFESTYLE CHOICE:

Giuliani's loyalty to an accused priest: A grand jury accused Alan Placa of molestation and his diocese has suspended him, but the presidential candidate continues to employ his lifelong best friend as a consultant. (Alex Koppelman and Joe Strupp, 6/22/07, Salon)

Anyone who has followed the career of Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani knows the value he places on personal loyalty. Loyalty is what inspired the former mayor of New York to make Bernard Kerik, once his personal driver, the commissioner of the New York Police Department, and then a partner in his consulting firm, and then to suggest him to President Bush as a potential head of the Department of Homeland Security.

After revelations about Kerik's personal history derailed his bid for the federal post, Giuliani demonstrated that there were limits to loyalty. He has distanced himself from Kerik, who resigned from Giuliani's firm and later pleaded guilty to corruption charges. Giuliani has not, however, sought to distance himself from another, much closer friend whose personal baggage is also inconvenient, and would send most would-be presidents running.

Giuliani employs his childhood friend Monsignor Alan Placa as a consultant at Giuliani Partners despite a 2003 Suffolk County, N.Y., grand jury report that accuses Placa of sexually abusing children, as well as helping cover up the sexual abuse of children by other priests. Placa, who was part of a three-person team that handled allegations of abuse by clergy for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, is referred to as Priest F in the grand jury report.

He's pro-gay and pro-abortion so he can hardly be anti-paedophile and be consistent.

The equation of gay with pedophile is malicious.

Brandon is correct, and since when is a "grand jury report" the same as a conviction?

Ditto the previous comments.

Only for folks who feel the need to believe homosexuals are "virtually normal."

Brandon, why? As the first perversion becomes accepted, the second and other perversions become chic for those who were in it to break taboos. As the area of mud gets smaller, those who want their sex to be dirty will follow. Making Gays mainstream was cruel to a large group of people. As to those who are genuine in their perverted lust for children, there's not much difference between boys and girls before puberty, and young boys range farther afield then young girls. Simple logic that they would aim for the boys. The best you can say is that you don't want them on your team. Which wouldn't be a problem if you hadn't made teams. Oops.....

OJ and Robert,

So if you are guilty of one form of perversion, you MUST be guilty of ALL forms of perversion? Even if you don't actually, you know, DO them?

Posted by: Brandon at June 22, 2007 6:10 PM

No, Brandon, it means that I don't go out of my way to sort out the chunks in the sewer. And of course, to point out that perversion does tend to spread. The thrill of breaking taboos is addictive, I'm told.

Please also remember, Brandon, that most of the church scandals involved men lusting after pubescent boys. Technically speaking, that's not pedophilia, it's ephebophilia.

A made up word to try to distance gay men from pedophilia.

Posted by: oj at June 22, 2007 8:49 PM

Isn't there a study or 2 suggesting 30% are pedophiles?

Re: Brandon's last. In a sense, yes. Disorder is always disorder. The one who acts on unnatural urges is in rebellion. Some acts are more grevious than others, but all perverted deeds are part of the great Non serviam.

Now perverted acts against children also partake of murder, because of the harm to the child. The sexual perversion, the rebellion against natural law and devine positive law is there in perverted acts whether a child is harmed.

A third of all pedophiliac attacks are homosexual. Some 70% of gay men acknowledge being attracted to children. And the queer theory of sexual freedom forbids judging the choices of others. The overlap is so extensive as to make the distinction trivial.

Whether you call it "pedophilia" or "ephebophilia" or just "a hanging offense" (my preferred title), it's still gay men going after underage boys. I have yet to hear a single gay rights letterhead group condemn it.
