Welcome to reality. The laws of physics are not placed in abeyance. This will continue to happen despite the best advice parents and society can offer. Youthful stupidity is a condition that only time can cure.
N.B.: Two of my brother's friends were killed when the speed of the car outran the road and the skill of the driver. And I could have in a couple of situations that I recall. Being sober and feeling the slip was enough to make me throttle down.
