WHAT'S THE OVER/UNDER...:
France ‘was seconds’ from downing Israeli jet (First Post, 4/16/07)
France and Israel are on a collision course in south Lebanon following incidents involving Israeli warplanes over- flying the positions of the French military contingent serving with the UN peacekeeping force there. In the most serious confrontation, French troops were said by sources in Paris to have been "just two seconds" from launching an anti- aircraft missile at two Israeli F-15 fighters carrying out mock low-level attack runs over one outpost.
As this was happening, a pair of Israeli reconnaissance aircraft circled over the headquarters of the French battalion in the Jabal Maroun area, possibly taking aerial photographs there.
...on how long it takes Israel to annihilate France? An hour? Posted by Orrin Judd at April 16, 2007 12:47 PM
"Gimme a reason, punk."
Posted by: JR at April 16, 2007 1:09 PMNever. If they're unable or unwilling to destroy the Palestinians, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, or Saddam's Iraq under actual and much worse assault, they wouldn't bother with France.

Why bother? A couple of chocolate bars and a few pairs of nylons usually does the trick.

Posted by: b at April 16, 2007 5:57 PMOn what battlefield? They don't share a border, so it's either a nuclear exchange - which France wins - or a naval battle, which France would probably win if the sixth fleet would let them fight - which it wouldn't.
