And why can't you make a Möbius strip?
Posted by: Anthony Perez-Miller at April 19, 2007 9:09 PMI don't know, they don't want to take their clothes off?
Actually, the Mobius strip puzzle is easily solved by proving that, except in theory, the strip has width. Bending the strip merely makes it a 3 dimensional triangle instead of a 3 dimensional rectangle.
Next, the word puzzle is used by silly whole language promoters to "prove" that phonics is useless or non-productive. This is nonsense.
WE can all make out the words in the video BECAUSE we are already experts at "decoding", so the order of letters is unnecessary once our brains process the word. (readers can process the entire line they are reading unconsciously). The brain is reading before the mind knows what it has read.
Try decoding this!

The moment you come to a word you don't know, you have to use phonics.
Hence, whole language, and the corrupt monopoly that is foisting it upon your kids, is STILL nonsense! (But they call it "Balanced Illiteracy" now)
I've seen all that stuff before....but who sings the song?
