Republicans Block Medicare Drug Price Bill (Shailagh Murray, 4/19/07, Washington Post)

Senate Republicans blocked legislation yesterday that would have allowed the federal government to negotiate Medicare drug prices, denying Democrats a victory on their 2006 election vow to lower prescription costs for senior citizens.

...of having their keisters handed to them on a platter?

When the MSM frames the issue as GOPers "preventing lower prescription costs for senior citizens" the GOP doesn't win.

OTOH, senior citizens well remember waiting in hour-long lines at the gas stations in the 70's, when the government protected us by keeping gasoline prices low.

All it'll take is for Republicans to remind them of that.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. In what way would a Democratic win on this bill have achieved their campaign vow to "lower prescription costs?"

Ray, Rds - you forget that the GOP is the stupid party. They will find a way to make themselves look as worse as possible even if they are on the same side of an issue as most Americans.

No, they never tire, which is why they eventually win. Republicans tire of the 'fight' because they want to get to work or spend time with their families.

Hence, they Dems win.

Except that they've lost on everything.
