ANYONE REMEMBER THE PARADE MAGAZINE PHOTOSPREAD AFTER HE WAS SHOT? (via Bryan Francoeur):
Ronald Reagan Attacks in David Arquette's "The Tripper", Trailer (Beyond Hollywood, 03.30.07)
Cartman on South Park hates hippies with a passion, and apparently so does the ghost of Ronald Reagan. Or at least, some guy dressed up in a nice suit and wearing a mask of Ronald Reason and wielding an ax. So what's ol Ronnie doing now that he's dead? Howzabout in the woods chopping dirty, stinking hippies into little bits and pieces. Sounds like fun times! The movie in question is the camp horror "The Tripper", about a group of kids who goes to a hippie jamboree in the woods, only to find themselves stalked by an ax-wielding Ronald Reagan killer. Good times, good times.
While the trailer is amusing, the reality is, as was Reagan's wont, even funnier. At one point during his gubernatorial years he was being driven away from a speech at a college campus and the students were taunting him about: "What will you do when we take over America?" He scribbled on a piece of paper and held it to the window: "Sell my bonds." Posted by Orrin Judd at April 1, 2007 1:15 PM

I heard that same punchline attributed to Reagan, only the protesters were yelling, "We are the future!"

My favorite Gov. Gipper quote was when he was asked about UC Berserkley's chances in the Pac 10 baseball season.
His reply, paraphrased, "Can they get cleats on their sandals?"

I've never seen it -- what did Parade magazine do?
Posted by: Matt Murphy at April 2, 2007 5:55 PMThe White House needed to show Reagan was recovered--which he was pohysically, at least, lifting had even added muscle mass. So they invited Parade in for a spread where he's wearing a white t-chirt, yellow-tinted shooting glasses and clearing brush at the Ranch. It was like visual testosterone.
