THE BOSTON DEATH MARCH:

Deval vows to plod ahead: Embattled gov facing crisis head-on (Laurel J. Sweet, Dave Wedge and Casey Ross, March 12, 2007, Boston Herald)

Backed into his Corner Office by brutal scrutiny and now, personal crisis, Gov. Deval Patrick is digging in his heels, refusing to cede the state's reins, even as his wife battles her own challenges.

Patrick, 50, Massachusetts' first Democratic governor in 16 years, will appear as planned this morning at the Kuss Middle School in Fall River and "continue to discharge his duties and press forward his agenda for the commonwealth," the governor's spokesman, Kyle Sullivan, said yesterday.

Patrick remains in charge, aides say (Lisa Wangsness and John C. Drake, March 12, 2007, Boston Globe)

Governor Deval Patrick will continue leading the government but will delegate some of his work to Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray and to his Cabinet, Murray said yesterday. The announcement came one day after Patrick said he would work a more flexible schedule to spend more time with his wife, Diane, who is suffering from exhaustion and depression.

"We'll have a staff meeting tomorrow, and my sense is the governor is going to continue to be active," Murray said in Worcester, where he was attending the St. Patrick's Day breakfast and roast at the Elks Lodge.

Both Romney and Patrick were corporate executives who had never held elected office before winning their gubernatorial races.

Huh? Although not elected an elected position, Patrick was a Justice Department official in the Clinton Administration.

When I saw "Boston Death March", I assumed this was just another annoying Sawx fan posting.

Sorry, I hit post prematurely. My point was that it's not like Deval Patrick is Bill Gates. He worked for the NAACP Legal Defense fund and was a lawyer, he is not a captain of industry.

Patrick in charge of our days and our nights.
Patrick in charge of our wrongs and our rights.
