PETER PRINCIPLE OF THE CITY (via Kevin Whited):

Can Rudy Get Past the First Date? (Ruth Marcus, March 7, 2007, Washington Post)

Does America's Mayor want to be America's President?

Poll after poll suggests that Rudy Giuliani has a serious shot at winning his party's nomination, and therefore the presidency, despite his abortion rights/gay rights/gun control baggage.

But listening to Giuliani's lackluster speech to a conservative group last week, I was not convinced that he craves the job -- or that he has a particular vision of what he'd do if he got it.

Since his entire candidacy is based on handling 9-11 well, couldn't we just make him the Designated National First Responder?

A shrieking partisan shrew like Ruth Marcus is hardly someone to post when addressing Rudy Giuliani.

She probably thinks Chuck Hagel is too much a Republican.

Yes, Rudy did a good job in his role of helping to cover up the truth of 9/11. Bush owes him a favor or two.

Apparently he overlooked you. You might be getting a visit shortly from a man named Luigi.

The Washington Post newspaper, like the rest of its inside the beltway brethren, is impressed with style - not with substance.

"Bill Clinton was so great, because he made me feel so good." That's the assessment by foggy bottom dwellers, not Monica Lewinsky.

Rudy personifies substance.
